Welcome back to Friday night podcasts here at Fictional Café, except for the new year we’re renaming this popular feature audiobooks. Reason being, podcasting has really evolved a lot, and since we concentrate on fiction, anything you listen to here is a story – and that makes a podcast, to our way of thinking, an audiobook. If that makes any sense. If it doesn’t, you could always fall back on the Firesign Theater’s David Ossman’s handle, radio movies.
This week, we welcome back our friends at ZBS Media and one of their very best works, “Saratoga Noir.” Not only is the audio great, but just check out the comic book that accompanies it!
This is just the first of 20 episodes. If you like what you hear – and see – let us know and we’ll post some more episodes. If you scream really loud, maybe we’ll post them all!
But if you just can’t wait for more, hop over ZBS where you can download the entire work, and many, many others, for chump change.
Please click on the arrow to listen to Episode 1 of “Saratoga Noir.”
It is great!!!
I love ZBS productions. Hope to hear more.
Awesome, as always, ZBS! Intriguing start, let’s see where it goes!
That’s really good. I’d definitely listen to more episodes.
Great stuff Genevieve (as usual). More please! Your British follower, Shirley x
ZBS has been a beloved world of inventive, entertaining, amusing, and inspiring stories for a long time. Kudos to Meatball Fulton and the gang, as they’ve been a boon to listeners who enjoy a good story. Or, as Jesse Winchester put it in the lyrics to one of his songs, “Reckon On Me”, “I love a good story, please tell it again.”
A really fun story. Real acting. Superb musical score. Taking a classical radio genre – the detective story – and stretching it way beyond the old time radio style and character. Even a little bit risqué. Kept my interest, and now I already want to know what happens next.
These ZBS audios dramas are fantastic fun! But more than that they are written with love and loads and loads of imagination. I, for one, would be delighted if you would continue posting these here. I’d love to scream louder, but I’m not so sure my voice will be heard as everyone will be so riveted to listening to Saratoga Nights!
Love this, both strip and audio! Yes, post them all!
(Full disclosure: I live in Saratoga)
LOL! You got it, Saratoga!
Wonderful to hear this story!! Please post more!!
Love this. I discovered ZBS with Ruby 5, which is another short-form series. The longer form stuff is OK, but I prefer things like this – easier to consume for a busy person.
This is great! I love the web format. I can play the audio (and put it up on some good speakers worthy of those great voices and wonderful track), and watch the illustrations. And not have to download anything. I’ve been a fan of ZBS for years. With this, I can share it easily with friends. Say, project the comic book page, turn up the sound, and turn down the lights.
He screams loudly, “POST THEM ALL!”
YES! Please post the whole Saratoga Noir series! GREAT stuff!
Thanks!
More Saratoga Noir!!!!
Great audio and artwork!!!!
I’m a long-time lover of ZBS productions! (I got hooked when they did the first “Ruby” adventure.) By all means, let’s see the other 19 episodes.
Yes, I’d definitely love to read more. I’m already a fan of ZBS, and would love to get the comic too.
Post more! It’s great. I love all of the ZBS Media projects, I’ve been a fan since the 80’s. Well crafted, well written, well produced, and fabulously acted. Each story takes you there. Thank you for posting!!
Saratoga is so close… right next door to Lake Woebegone. We love the hard-boiled noir stories by the people who made The Fourth Tower of Inverness!!
I’m sure Guy Noir is listening from over tah Lake Woebegone! 🙂
posting sci fi and fantasy offerings from ZBS would also be welcome as well as classics like Firesign Theatre. Thanks for the offering. Keep it up.
High five to Firesign. Their stuff is embedded in my brain. I’ll see if we can get copyright permission.

Thanks, David! We’re all over it.
Never heard anything I didn’t like by ZBS.
Sure, keep posting ’em!
Please post more episodes!
I’m a fan of noir. This is fun so far—I wouldn’t mind hearing more.
Yeah! Thanks- love ZBS!
Awesome! Please post more comics/epidodes!
Great! I really look forward to hearing more by ZBS!
Fun. The drawings are great. I’ll wait for next edition. I’ll be down in Mexico for a while so I’ll listen there.
Hasta la vista, buddy! Stay tuned!!

More episodes are on their way!
